It’s been a crazy few days with Hannah in the city. We’ve toured art galleries, museums, and colleges, eaten all the best food in DC, and made memories that will last forever. Now she’s on her way home to Texas, and I’m starting a new job and hustling the last couple of weeks before my junior year begins. Here are some of the highlights of the last couple of days.

On Sunday, we toured the Catholic University of America. She was awe-struck by the National Shrine on campus, and really feels like she could have a place there for the next four years.

We shopped around Kramerbooks & Afterwords, one of my favorite bookstores in the city, and snacked on cupcakes from The Cakeroom.

Yesterday, we took it easy. We spent most of the day on Georgetown’s campus, and I walked Hannah through the college application process. Her list currently includes George Mason in Virginia, Catholic here in DC, Florida International in Miami, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and Texas State in San Marcos. Wish her luck! Before we left Georgetown, I took her to the radio station on campus, where I broadcast my show SXNE every week. We spent a couple of hours on air and she got to play some of her favorite tracks. We finished the day with &pizza and Broad City – that’s the life.

We woke up at 4:30 this morning to make it to the bus on time. Neither of us have ever been to the Dulles airport, but she decided she was ready to brave it on her own, so we said goodbye at the bus stop. We probably won’t see each other again until Christmas, which is why I’m super excited by the possibility of her going to college up here.

The next couple of weeks will be very busy but not too eventful, with a steady stream of work and preparing to move in to my new dorm. I’m beyond ready to begin my junior year!
